The Heights Urban Empowerment, Inc. is a non-profit organization, based in Washington Heights, whose mission is working with inner-city youth and young adults from Northern Manhattan and the South Bronx in guiding them into becoming independent, critical thinkers, altruistic, and strong leaders. We use the outdoors as a tool to motivate, inspire, and strengthen the youth as they become young adults in their community and in New York City.
We believe all youth can embrace who they are,
can define their future, and be prepared.
Our mission is to work with underprivileged inner-city youth and young adults who are first-generation Americans, English is their second language, and do not have access to the outdoors. Through the use of outdoor activities, our youth members obtain skills and values that will inspire them to invest in themselves through education and pursue better opportunities that can lead them to a more stabilized socio-economic life.
Our vision is to mold our youth into well-rounded, altruistic, and independent young adults that will elevate themselves and their families.
Antonio Camacho & Lizzette Perez are founders of The Heights Urban Empowerment, Inc.
Collectively, they have 20 years of experience working with youth through different outdoor youth programs. They enjoy traveling, learning new cultures, and giving back.
It is their mission to help diverse youth to create and accomplish life goals that will elevate them.
